Black River Fife & Drum Corps
The Black River Fife and Drum Corps was organized in 1988. It was the brainchild of Gary Gay and Debbie Berger who after recently moving from Connecticut to Hinsdale, New Hampshire considered beginning an organization where they could continue their fife & drum hobby.
The name of the corps, Black River, comes from the name of the river that flows through the town of Ludlow, VT where we conducted our first meetings. Black River carries on the tradition of amateur musicians borrowing from the military experience and performing for local celebrations and remembrances.
Besides parades in New England and New York State, the corps rarely misses a fife and drum corps muster.
Our members are from every New England State except Maine. Plus: a snare drummer from Richmond, Virginia occasionally performs with us.
Beginning in 2006 -2007 winter practices have returned to the Ludlow Town Hall
